Is it safe to clean my platinum engagement ring with lens cleaner?
The other day i sprayed a little lens cleaner that my mom uses to clean her glasses on my platinum engagment ring and it made it soooo shiney and clean. it works better than anything that i have tried. however, i was just wondering if it was safe to use on platinum and diamonds before i keep using it.
I am sure the lens cleaner contains ammonia. My wife has used a half and half (Windex and distilled water) solution on her 18k gold and diamond ring. It does make it look like new. After 6 years, it looks like the day I bought it for her. So, from experience, I would guess you are safe.
