If I get my ears pierced today, can I where earrings the next day with them hurting?
I have been wanting to get ears pierced for a while now, but people have been telling me that I can't get them pierced and where earrings so soon because it will hurt. Is there anything I can put on them to not let them hurt?
How to care for pierced ears
Step 1. Clean the pierced ears every day for the first six to eight weeks by taking a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and going around the base of the earrings closest to the earlobe. Clean away any visible dried blood or dirt. Do not remove the earrings when you do this. The earrings must stay in the ear for at least six weeks.
Step 2. Alternate cleaning the ears each time between alcohol and sodium peroxide. Clean the ears daily at a minimum of twice a day.
Step 3. Turn or twist the pierced ears daily by "twirling" the earring around about a half–turn in both directions, lifting the ear up and away from the post. Take precaution to not pull the post when turning as this will cause the healing tissues to break.
Step 4. Keep the ears dry during the first six to eight weeks while the ears are healing. Aside from using alcohol (which dries quickly) and sodium peroxide, do not let any water get into the ear lobe. Water has bacteria in it and can set up infection if the ear lobes get moisture in them.
Step 5. Change the earrings after eight weeks. This will keep the earring from becoming "set" in the ear. Only use pure material earrings to avoid irritating the ear.
