How do I write a good thankyou note to my boyfriend's mom without it sounding cheesy or overdone?
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 7 months and we went to his mom's place for christmas dinner. She got me sterling silver earrings and a necklace with heart designs in them-very pretty! What should I write in a thankyou note to her, without sounding cheesy? I am also planning to put a picture of my boyfriend and I from Christmas in the card when I send it. Also, how do I end the note? Sincerly, Love,From, Best Regards??
I'm afraid my answer will get lost amongst all the others, but I would say "Dear________" (if when you met her she said "please call me Mary, then address it Mary, if it was more formal, address her Mrs. Walker, whatever)
Then I would say "I appreciate the warm welcome you gave me into your home on Christmas, and think the earrings and necklace you gave me are absolutely beautiful. It was very kind of you to think of me on Christmas."
Somebody else said something about saying which dish you really liked, and that was a very good idea, too. If you and her really clicked and got on well together I would say "I'll have to get the recipe from you next time we see each other."
Somebody else said wear the jewelry in the picture you send, and that is a good idea, as well as framing the picture.
I would sign it "Looking forward to seeing you again, Your Name"
If you truly love the jewelry and wear them a lot, your boyfriend will probably notice and tell his mom "she wears them all the time!" and that will really flatter her.
