Is it bad taste to give someone a birthday gift from eBay?
My friend is obsessed with Betsey Johnson jewelry, but since I can't afford to buy it retail and have no other ideas what to get her, I found a few pieces that are NEW, with the tags. All together they will cost $30 before shipping (all are Buy Now not bidding). It's a set with one piece from each different seller: a necklace, a ring, and earrings. It retails for over $230 (which is why I think I should tell her they are from eBay so she doesn't think I'm spending so much!)
Is it inappropriate though? She can't exactly return them, but I know she doesn't have the pieces I'm buying. And if it is okay, do I tell her they're from eBay? Or not?

If she asks if you spent too much on her, then tell her they were from eBay, if she doesn't ask, then there's no need to tell her. It's that simple. I also agree with the first guy, it is the thought that counts
